Some people think Chinese dishes take time and effort, but that’s not entirely true! Followed are 7 recipes that are easy, tasty, and healthy. I personally make some of them quite often, say more than once a week, even in such a fast-paced MSBA program. I highly recommend you try them sometime. You’ll be surprised how easy they are. There is also a Youtube video link underneath each recipe to show you how to cook them. Hope you enjoy it!

1. Fried Eggs with Tomato

Fried eggs with tomato is a very common dish in China. Almost every single Chinese has his or her own recipe for it. It is easy and quick, takes less than 10 minutes, but at the same time, yummy. Eggs provide protein, and tomato is a good source of vitamins. If you are in a hurry cooking dinner, but still want something healthy and tasty, definitely try this!


2. Mapo Tofu


Mapo tofu is a popular Chinese dish originated from Sichuan province. It consists of tofu set in a spicy chili- and bean-based sauce, and minced meat, usually pork or beef. Variations exist with other ingredients such as chestnutsonions, or other vegetables. If you love spicy and hot food, you just can’t miss it.


3. Kung Pao Chicken


Kung Pao chicken is a staple of westernized Chinese cuisine. Almost every Chinese restaurant in the U.S. has it, but in fact, the dish is not that popular in China. Kung Pao Chicken is a spicy stir-fry dish made with chickenpeanutsvegetables, and chili peppers. The traditional way of cooking it also includes using Sichuan peppercorns. Although the dish is found throughout China, there are regional variations that are typically less spicy than the Sichuan serving.


4. Dumplings


Dumplings consists of small pieces of dough either wrapped around a filling or incorporating other ingredients. The dough can be based on bread or flour, and may be filled with fishmeat, or vegetables. It may be cooked by boilingfrying, or steaming, whichever the way you prefer. It is usually served as an entree if cooked by boiling, and a dim sum if cooked by frying or steaming.


5. Fried Rice


Fried rice is a dish of steamed rice stir-fried in a wok, often mixed with other ingredients, such as eggsvegetables, and shrimps. As a homemade dish, fried rice is typically made with leftover ingredients in the refrigerator, leading to countless variations. There are also Japanese and Korean style of fried rice, the later usually includes kimchi.


6. Steamed Fish


Steamed fish is an effortless way of cooking fish. Simply put some sliced gingers and green onions on the top of the fish fillet, add a little wine and soy sauce, and steam it till fully cooked. The whole process will take you less than 20 minutes, and the dish is nutritious, healthy, and tasty.


7. Chicken Soup

Chicken soup is made from chicken, simmered in water, usually with various other ingredients. Every country has its own way of making chicken soup. The classic Chinese chicken soup consists of a clear broth, often with pieces of chicken and mushrooms. Sometimes, Chinese people will also put traditional Chinese medicine into it, making it more nourishing.
